Faith Over Fortune

Be Content With A Small Portion of The World (Worldly Wealth) As Long As Your Deen Remains Safe, Just As The Heedless Laymen Are Content With Abundant Wealth At The Cost of Losing Their Deen.

Hazrat Sa'eed Ibn Musayyib Radi Allahu Anhu

What Should Be Left for Our Children?

When Abdur Rahman ibn Qasim entered the court of Caliph Al-Mansur, the Caliph said:
“Offer me some advice.”

He replied:
“Let me share with you what I have seen…”

‘Umar ibn Abdul Aziz passed away leaving behind eleven sons — and only eighteen dinars.
From that amount:

Five were spent on his shroud,
Four on his grave,
And the remaining nine dinars were divided among his children.

In contrast, Hisham ibn Abdul Malik also left behind eleven sons,
but each son inherited one million dinars.

Yet what did time reveal?

One of ‘Umar’s sons was later seen donating one hundred horses in the path of Allah Almighty,
while one of Hisham’s sons was found begging in the marketplace.

And when ‘Umar ibn Abdul Aziz was asked on his deathbed:
“What have you left behind for your children?”
He replied:
“I have left them taqwa (Piety).
If they are righteous, then they will be completely dependent on Allah Almighty and He is the best of all Providers.
And if they turn out to be disobedient, then why should I contribute to their wrongdoing?”

- - -
This story teaches us that true wealth is not material, but spiritual.
Worldly riches can perish — but piety, good character, and the fear of Allah can elevate generations.

If parents instil faith, honesty, trustworthiness, and awe of Allah in their children’s hearts rather than leaving behind fortunes,
then their children will never go astray.

Sustenance is in Allah’s Qudrah — the greatest inheritance is taqwa.
May Allah grant us the ability to act upon this, Ameen.

The Company That You Keep

"We Should Always Abstain From The Company Of Deviants And Even From The Company Of Those Who Are Sympathetic To Them. You Get Those Who Are Outright Deviants, And You Get Those Who Are Sympathetic To Them, And They Are In Fact Together In The Same Boat. We Should Stay Away From Them, As Keeping Their Company Will Pollute And Contaminate Our Imaan And Deen, And Contamination Of Our Imaan Is The Worst And Most Detrimental Form Of Contamination"

Sahaba and Ahl e Bayt United

My Aala Hazrat says:

It Is Not Our Place To Create Divisions In The Love And Respect Between The Sahaba And The Ahle Bayt, Or To Elevate One While Diminishing The Other Based On Personal Desires. Since Both Are Connected To Nabi ﷺ, And His ﷺ Matter Is The Most Exalted, The Demand Of Our Imaan Is That We Align Our Desires With The Deen Brought By Nabi ﷺ.

We Must Uphold Respect For Both Within The Boundaries Set By The Kitaab (Qur'an), Sunnah, And The Ijma' E Ummat In Matters Of Tafdheel (Superiority), Keeping These Matters Within The Limits Of Tauqeef (Reliance On Authentic Proofs).

In Contrast, The Mufadh-dhila (Tafdheelis) Disrupt The Ijma' e Ummat, Tearing Apart Its Unity In These Matters.

Crabs and the Tide

All praise is due to Allah. Peace and blessings be upon our Master Muḥammad ﷺ, the one who taught us to reflect upon the signs around us.

Recently, I found myself by the seashore seeking nothing more than fresh air while the children enjoyed the waves. However, Allah, in His infinite mercy, turned a mundane moment into a mirror for deep contemplation.

As I sat quietly, I noticed small crabs scuttling about. They emerged with energy and purpose, digging their modest burrows into the sand. Then, without warning, a wave came crashing over them, erasing all that they had labored to build. But to my amazement, they did not retreat in sorrow. Without hesitation, they resumed their task.

There was no despair. No resistance. No self-pity.

This seemingly insignificant sight stirred something within me. These creatures, void of reason and intellect, displayed a purity of effort and surrender many of us lack. Their actions echoed a profound truth: what is in our control is effort; the outcome rests with Allah.

As the Holy Prophet ﷺ said:

“If you were to rely upon Allah with the required reliance, then He would provide for you just as a bird is provided for, it goes out in the morning empty, and returns full.” [Tirmidhi]

These crabs too, live in full surrender to their divine decree.

Each wave that demolished their dwelling served as a reminder of the temporality of all worldly constructs. How often do we build our lives upon sand? Relationships, careers, ambitions, and collapse when the tide shifts?

Allah states in the Qur’an:

“Every living being must taste death; and We test you with harm and good - a trial; and to Us only you have to return.” [Surah al-Ambiyaa, 21:35]

The crabs do not mourn their homes. They accept loss with grace and begin anew. Can we, as ashraf al-makhlooqaat (the noblest of creation), learn to do the same?

Detachment, Not Indifference

Islam does not call us to indifference, but to detachment. To build, while recognizing that permanence is the Hereafter.

Our Beloved Prophet ﷺ, despite being the most beloved to Allah, would sleep on a simple mat that left imprints on his blessed back. When asked why (out of love and concern for His ﷺ comfort), He ﷺ replied: “What do I have to do with the world! I am not in the world but as a rider seeking shade under a tree, then he catches his breath and leaves it.” [Tirmidhi]

These crabs, in their instinctive simplicity, reflect that truth. Build, yes, but know the shade is brief.

The Core of Resilience

True resilience is not in avoiding hardship, but in responding to it with reliance on Allah. As the scholars mention, tawbah is to return—not only from sin, but from despair, from heedlessness, from attachment to the ephemeral.

The Qur’an declares:

“And trust Allah; and Allah is Sufficient as a Trustee.” (Surah al-Ahzab, 33:3)

Build with purpose, not permanence – Our actions should be for the sake of Allah, not for worldly recognition or stability.
Do not mourn the wave – Every wave is a decree. Acceptance is not weakness, but strength born from Imaan.
Return to your task with hope – Just as the crab resumes building, the believer must resume striving; each fall is a means to rise closer to Allah.

Your Moment of Contemplation

Next time your efforts are undone, do not despair. Reflect upon the wisdom of the tide. Consider: what do you build your life upon; stones of sincerity or sands of self-interest?

O Allah, grant us hearts that are steadfast amidst the waves of fate. Let our actions be for Your sake alone and not for worldly recognition. Make us hopeful like those crabs who rise after every fall, rebuild after every loss, and turn to You after every tide.

آمِينَ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ

A Powerful Sign of His Devotion

Did you know?

Sayyiduna Usman رضی اللہ عنہ was martyred while fasting, reciting the Qur'an in his home, choosing patience over battle, even when surrounded.
His blessed blood dripped on to the mushaf.

The Issue of Insulting a Sunni Alim

Besides an Aalim, one is not even permitted to insult an ordinary Muslim and to do so is considered as Haraam.

The Holy Prophet - May Allah send peace and blessings upon him - has stated that, “To insult (and swear) at a fellow Muslim is a major sin.”
[Muslim Shareef]

When this law is so severe on an ordinary Muslim imagine the law which is applicable upon an Aalim?

The Holy Prophet - May Allah send peace and blessings upon him - has also stated that, “no one will think lightly of the ‘Ulama except a munaafiq”.

In another Shareef, the Holy Prophet - May Allah send peace and blessings upon him - has stated that, “He who does not recognize the right of my Aalim, he is not from my ummah.”
[Musnad Imam Ahmed Radi Allahu ‘Anhu]

At the same time, if one insults an Aalim simply because he is an Aalim, then this is clear kufr.

If on the other hands, he considers it fard to respect his knowledge, but due to some wordily issue, he insults and swears at this Aalim, belittles him, ridicules him, then he is a Faasiq and a Faajir. If he continues to display scorn for this Aalim, then his heart is sick and his heart is full of filth and there is a danger that very soon he will be guilty of kufr.

In the book Khulaasah, it is mentioned that “If a person has enmity for an Aalim without any visible reason, there is a possibility that he has committed kufr.
[Khulaasatul Fataawah. 4/388]

In the Minhur Roaudul Azhar it is mentioned that, “It is apparent, that he will become a Kaafir”. [Fatawah Ridawiyyah]

Prayer + Durood = Aakhirat Success

The Great Mystics Have Stated That, Apart From The Five Daily Prayers; If A Person Spends The Rest of His Time Reciting Durood Shareef, He Has Secured His Aakhirat (i.e. Success In The Hereafter), Because That Durood, Which He Recited, Has Made Him Closer In The Sacred Court of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah ﷺ. It Is Simple Enough To Understand; The Closer One Is To Rasoolullah ﷺ, The Quicker He Will Attain Shafa'at (Intercession) On The Day of Qiyaamat, And The Sooner He Will Gain Acceptance In The Divine Court of Almighty Allah. Such Are The Blessings of Reciting Durood Upon Nabi Kareem ﷺ.

Is it permissible to offer the Sunnat Salaah while the congregational (Fard) Salaah is in progress?

Question: Is it permissible to offer the Sunnat Salaah while the congregational (Fard) Salaah is in progress?

The Answer: It is impermissible and sinful to commence any Sunnat Salaah during the Iqaamah or while the congregational Fard Salaah is in progress (with the exception of Fajr Sunnat, which have specific considerations). This ruling applies even if one is confident that they will complete the Sunnat in time to join the congregation.

However, if a person begins the Sunnat before the Iqaamah has commenced and is certain that they will be able to join the congregation for the Fard Salaah in time, then there is no harm in doing so.

As stated in Bahaar-e-Shariat:

"If the congregation has not yet started, one may begin any Sunnat Salaah wherever they wish. But if they know that the congregation is about to start soon and they won't finish the Sunnat in time, then they should not perform it in a place where it would disturb or break the row (Saff)." Cautious Hadith Narration by Sayyiduna Uthman Radi Allahu Anhu

I Have Not Seen Anyone Narrate Hadith With Greater Eloquence, Clarity, And Completeness Than Uthman Ibn Affan Radi Allahu Anhu. He Was Extremely Cautious And Fearful When Narrating Hadith, Only Doing So With Great Care And Precision.

Beyond The Grave

The Journey To The Hereafter Is One That Every Soul Must Inevitably Embark Upon. Unlike Any Worldly Voyage, Its Transit Point Is The Grave; A Destination From Which No One Returns. Yet, How Often Do We Truly Pause To Reflect On This Reality?

Salafis and Taqleed

When someone falls into that Salafi echo chamber, to find their way back is no easy task. It's a system designed to silence every other voice, to dismiss a thousand years of Islamic scholarship as "misguided," and to wrap you in the false comfort that you alone have found the truth while the entire ummah has somehow lost its way.

Breaking free from that prison isn't just about gaining knowledge—it requires something deeper. It demands sincerity, a genuine hunger for truth over the ego's need to be right.

As for Taqleed, they scream that "blind following is shirk," painting themselves as the only ones who think for themselves. Yet watch them scramble to copy and paste every word from Ibn Taymiyyah and Albani as if these scholars' opinions carry the same weight as the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah of Rasoolullah (SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) themselves.

Taqleed dressed up in different clothes, with a face mask is exactly what they propagate.

The irony is that they became exactly what they claimed to reject, but they were too proud to see it.

Beyond Physical Death

My Aala Hazrat says:

Believe With Complete Conviction That Huzoor e Aqdas SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam Is Physically Alive And Present Just As He Was Before Passing From The World.

Him And All The Other Ambia Alaihimus Salaatu Was Salaam Have Only Tasted Death For A Split Second (i.e. Momentarily), To Fulfill The Promise of Allah. Their Passing Away Is Simply So That They May Be Hidden From The Eyes of The People.
