A man once presented himself in the blessed court of the Imam-e- Ahl-e-Sunnat Sayyidi Ala Hazrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khan Alaihir Rahmah, and humbly said:
"O Master! I am in great distress. My means of sustenance have become extremely limited, and I am overwhelmed by debt."
With heartfelt compassion, Sayyidi Ala Hazrat Alaihir Rahmah prescribed a tried and trusted wazifah:
اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
Translation: O Allah Almighty! Suffice me with what You have made lawful and protect me from the unlawful. Enrich me, through Your grace, so that I need no one besides You.
Sayyidi Ala Hazrat Alaihir Rahmah then instructed the following method for recitation:
"Recite this dua eleven times after every obligatory Salaah, and one hundred times each morning and evening. Begin and conclude with Durood Shareef. In Sha Allah, you will be freed from your debts and delivered from your hardships."
He further added that regarding this very supplication, Hazrat Sayyiduna Mawla Ali RadiAllahu Anhu, said:
"Even if your debt were as heavy as a mountain, Allah Almighty would enable you to repay it through the blessings of this dua."
