الصلوۃ والسلام علیک یا سیدی یارسول اللہ

As-Siddiq Embraces Islam

He was the first man to embrace Islam. It is reported that he did not hesitate to accept Islam upon the Beloved Messenger of Allah’s ﷺ invitation; such was his sharp recognition of the truth, and his sincerity in seeking it. The Beloved Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “I have never invited anyone to Islam except that he had an aversion to it, and irresolution and deliberation, except for Abu Bakr. He did not delay when I reminded him, and he was not unsure. [5]”

Imam Bayhaqi states, regarding Sayyidina Abu Bakr’s swift acceptance of Islam: “This was because he used to see the proofs of the Prophet hood of the Beloved Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and hear the traces of it before his invitation (to Islam), so that when he invited him, he had already reflected and thought about it, and he submitted and accepted Islam at once.”

The Beloved Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said, “I never spoke to anyone about Islam but that they refused me and rejected my words, except for the son of Abu Quhafa. I never spoke to him about something but that he accepted it and was steadfast in it. [6]”

The Beloved Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “I said, ‘People, I am the Messenger of Allah to you all,’ and you said, ‘You are lying.’ Abu Bakr said, ‘You have told the truth.’ [7]”

Early Life

Sayyidina Abu Bakr Siddiq resided in Makkah, and only left the city for trade purposes. He was very wealthy and respected amongst the Arabs. He was also one of the chiefs and counselors of the Quraysh, who admired him and held him in high esteem.

When the light of Islam began to flourish, he gave up this life of comfort and reputation for the love of the truth brought by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

He was one of the most abstinent men during the period of jahiliyyah. He never composed poetry, and he abandoned alcohol due to his willingness to protect his own honor. This was even before the advent of Islam and its laws.

Sayyidina Abu Bakr Siddiq - PT 2‏ (Kiswahili)

Assalaamu alaikum,

 Natumai hamjambo. Kwa kuwakumbusha tu, kesho Ijumaa ni mwezi 22 ya Mfungo 9 (Jamadi ul Akhar) na ndiyo tarehe ambamo Sayyidina Abubakr Siddiq RadwiyAllahu Anhu aliiaga dunia hii. Itakuwa bora kama kila mmoja wetu akaleta Ikhlas 3 kisha akaomba dua kumtawassul Abubakr Siddiq kwani ana hisani nyingi juu Uislamu na Waislamu.

 Kisa cha kusilimu kwake; Sy AbuBakr alikuwa katika safari zake za biashara nchini Shaam (Syria), ambapo padiri mmoja aliziona alama fulani zilizotajwa kwenye vitabu vya kikristo kuhusu Sy AbuBakr. Padiri alimuambia arudi Makkah haraka kwani rafiki yake wa karibu, Mtume Swallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, atakapotangaza Utume, yeye awe karibu nae. Sy AbuBakr alipofika kwa Mtume Swallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, alimwambia kuwa anamuamini sana ila anahitaji aonyeshwe muujiza mmoja tu ili roho yake itulie. Mtume Swallallahu Alaihi Wasallam alimuambia kuwa anahitaji muujiza gani zaidi ya kuambiwa na padiri huko nchi ya Shaam kuhusu kutangaza kwangu Utume. Papo kwa hapo Sy AbuBakr alisilimu. Hivyo alikuwa wa mwanzo kusilimu.

Baada ya kusilimu kwake. Sy AbuBakr alijitolea mali yake yote kwa ajili ya Mtume Swallallahu Alaihi Wasallam na Uislam. Baada ya kusilimu tu, Sy AbuBakr alimletea Mtume Swallallahu Alaihi Wasallam dinar 40,000 kwa matumizi atakavyo Mtume Swallallahu Alaihi Wasallam mwenyewe. Mtume Swallallahu Alaihi Wasallam alisema kuwa Uislamu umepata faida sana kupitia mali ya Sy AbuBakr kuliko mali ya Sahaba yeyote.
