Sayyidunā Ibrāhīm ibn Maysarah RadiyyAllāhu ‘Anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “He who reveres someone who is misguided has indeed aided in the destruction of Islām.” [Mishkāt]
Shaykh ‘Abd al-Haqq Muhaddith Dehlawī Bukhārī has stated regarding this Hadīth Sharīf:
“Meaning in honouring and respecting misguided people is belittling and disparaging the Sunnat. And this [belittling the Sunnat] erodes the foundations of Islām.” [Ashi’at al-Lam’āt; Volume 1]
Sayyidunā Anas RadiyyAllāhu ‘Anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “When you see someone who is misguided, scowl in his face, for indeed Allāh holds all misguided people enemies.” [Ibn ‘Asākir]
Sayyidunā Abū Umāmah RadiyyAllāhu ‘Anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “Misguided people are the dogs of the people of Hell.” [Al-Dār Qutnī]
Sayyidunā Hudhayfah RadiyyAllāhu ‘Anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “Allāh does not accept the fasts of a misguided person, or Salāh or Sadaqah or Hajj or ‘Umrah or Jihād or Nafl or Fard. He leaves Islām like a hair comes out of dough.” [Ibn Mājah]
Sayyidunā Abū Hurayrah RadiyyAllāhu ‘Anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “If misguided people fall ill, do not visit them; and if they die, do not participate in their Janāzah; and if you pass by them, do not give Salām to them; and do not sit with them and do not drink with them and do not eat with them and do not marry them and do not perform Janāzah Salāh upon them and do not perform Salāh with them.” [Muslim Sharīf]
This Hadīth Sharīf has been recorded by Abū Dāwūd from Sayyidunā Ibn ‘Umar, by Ibn Mājah from Sayyidunā Jābir and by ‘Aqīl and Ibn Hibbān from Sayyidunā Anad RadiyyAllāhu ‘Anhum.
