The Importance of Dua

The Importance of Dua

Translation: Hazrat Anas RadiAllahu Anhu

narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: "Supplication is the very essence of worship."-(Tirmidhi Shareef)

This profound hadith reminds us that dua is not a mere request or plea, but the heart and spirit of all acts of worship. It reflects the servant's humility, dependence, and love for Allah Almighty. Just as the soul gives life to the body, supplication gives life to worship.

Meelaad Shareef is the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet

Meelaad Shareef is the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ

The commemoration of the Meelaad Shareef is firmly rooted in the Sunnah. The Holy Prophet himself spoke of his blessed birth (Meelaad Shareef) and noble ancestry. In emulation of this Prophetic precedent, the Ahl-e-Sunnat Wa Jama'at continue to observe Meelaad Shareef gatherings with reverence and devotion. Opponents of this practice, however, remain deprived of its spiritual blessings.

Hazrat Abbaas RadiAllahu Anhu narrates that upon hearing of an individual who had disparaged his lineage, the Messenger of Allah ascended the pulpit and said: "Who am I?" The Companions RadiAllahu Anhum responded, "You are the Messenger of Allah." He declared: "I am Muhammad, son of Abdullah, son of Abdul-Muttalib. Indeed Allah Almighty created all creation and placed me in the best of them. He then divided them into groups and placed me in the best group. Then He formed tribes and placed me in the best tribe. Then He formed households and placed me in the best household and purest lineage." (Tirmidhi Shareef/Chapter on Supplication)

This narration clearly establishes that the Holy Prophet convened a gathering in which he spoke of his own blessed birth (Meelaad Shareef) and noble ancestry. It also highlights that one of the purposes of Meelaad Shareef is to refute those who slander the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

The Essence of Deeds is Love for the Holy Prophet ﷺ

The Essence of Deeds is Love for the Holy Prophet ﷺ

The soul of all righteous deeds is love for the Messenger of Allah. Without this love, deeds remain empty and fruitless. The blessed gatherings of Meelaad Shareef are a means of reviving this love, for in them the heart is illuminated with the light of devotion through na'ats, and Salaatu Salaam upon the Beloved Prophet.

Many profess love for the Messenger of Allah, but true love is recognized by certain signs. Among the most important are:

Obedience and Emulation: adhering to his sayings and actions, practicing his Sunnah, obeying his commands and avoiding his prohibitions, thus living fully in accordance with the Sacred Law.

Frequent Remembrance: abundantly invoking blessings upon him,

eagerly participating in gatherings of his remembrance such as Meelaad Shareef and other religious assemblies, and cherishing attendance in these blessed circles.

Reverence for What is Connected to Him: nurturing love,

respect, and honour for all those and all things associated with him: his noble Companions, his pure Wives, his blessed Family, the radiant city of Madinah, his sacred resting place, Masjidun-Nabawi, his relics and sanctified sites, as well as the Qur'aan and the Hadith Shareef holding them all in the highest respect. The Proof of the Meelaad Shareef from the Noble Qur'aan

The Proof of the Meelaad Shareef from the Noble Qur'aan

Allah Almighty Says:

Translation: Indeed there has come to you a Noble Messenger from among you, your falling into hardship aggrieves him, most concerned for your well being, for the Muslims most compassionate, most merciful. (Surah Taubah 9:128)

In this verse, Allah Almighty explicitly mentions the blessed advent of the Messenger of Allah and then describes His noble attributes. This is precisely the essence of Meelaad Shareef gatherings: to recall his blessed arrival from the unseen realm into the visible world and to extol his exalted qualities and perfections, whether expressed in prose or in poetry.

In short: this verse itself affirms the blessed coming, the Meelaadun-Nabi. Thus, it becomes clear that the celebration of Meelaad Shareef is firmly grounded in the Qur'aan and Hadith Shareef.
(Khazaain-ul-Irfaan fi Tafseeril-Qur'aan)

Meelaad Shareef Gatherings Inspire And Nurture Love For The Holy Prophet

Meelaad Shareef Gatherings Inspire And Nurture Love For The Holy Prophet

It is our sacred duty to nurture in our children the love of the Holy Prophet, as he said: himself

Translation: Teach your children three things: the

love of your Prophet, the love of his family, and the love for the Qur'aan. (Al-Jaamius-Sagheer) Alhamdulillah! among the most effective ways to plant this love firmly in their hearts is through the blessed gatherings of Meelaadun-Nabi.

Allama Ibn Aabideen Shaami's View on Meelaad Shareef

Allama Ibn Aabideen Shaami Alaihir Rahmah writes: "Gathering to listen to the Meelaad Shareef of the Messenger of Allah is among the noblest acts of worship, for in these gatherings abundant salutations and blessings are sent upon the Messenger of Allah, and the remembrance of Allah Almighty and His Beloved is repeatedly made. Indeed, cherishing the remembrance of the Holy Prophet is itself a means of attaining closeness to Him." (Sharh Saheeh Muslim, Volume 3, page 183)

Meelaad Shareef In The Thought Of Imam Suyuti

Meelaad Shareef In The Thought Of Imam Suyuti

While discussing the subject of Meelaad Shareef, Hazrat Allamah Imam Jalaluddin Suyuti Alaihir Rahmah writes:

فَيُسْتَحَبُّ لَنَا أَيْضًا إِظْهَارُ الشُّكْرِ بِمَوْلِدِهِ بالاجْتِمَاعِ وَإِطْعَامِ الطَّعَامِ وَنَحْوِ ذَلِكَ مِنْ وُجُوهِ القُرُبَاتِ وَإِظْهَارِ الْمَسَرَّاتِ

Translation: It is recommended for us to

express gratitude for the blessed birth of the Holy Prophet by gathering together, feeding others, and through similar acts of devotion, as well as by manifesting joy and happiness. (Alhaawi Lilfataawa Page 196)

Shaitaan Does Not Celebrate The Meelaad Shareef

Shaitaan Does Not Celebrate The Meelaad Shareef

Allama Imam Abul Qasim Abdur Rahman Suhaili writes in his book Ar-Rauzul-Unuf:

إِنَّ إِبْلِيسَ لَعَنَهُ اللهُ، رَنَّ أَرْبَعَ رَنَّاتٍ رَنَّهُ حِينَ لُعِنَ، وَرَنَّهُ حِينَ اهْبِطَ وَرَنَّةٌ حِينَ وُلِدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ، وَرَنَّهُ حِينَ أُنْزِلَتْ فَاتِحَةً الْكِتَابِ

Translation: The accursed Iblees cried out with anguish on four occasions: the first, when he was declared accursed and rejected; the second, when he was expelled from the heights and cast down; the third, when the Holy Prophet was born; and the fourth, when Almighty Allah revealed Suratul-Faatiha- (Ar-Rauzul-Unuf, Volumel, Page 278, Darul-Kutubul Ilmiyah, Beirut)

It should be noted that Shaitaan hates all that is good; he cried at the blessed birth of the Holy Prophet and the revelation of Surah Faatiha. Let us celebrate the Meelaad Shareef, honor the Holy Prophet, and follow Allah's guidance, for our love for the Qur'an and Sunnah defeats Shaitaan.

The Benefits of Meelaad Shareef Gathering

The Benefits of Meelaad Shareef Gathering

It is mentioned in Mawaahibul-Ladunniyyah regarding the blessed gathering of Meelaadun-Nabi ﷺ:

"Muslims have always held gatherings of Meelaad Shareef in the month of Rabi'ul-Awwal, because it is the month of the Prophet's blessed birth. In its nights, they give charity, do many good deeds, and express their happiness. By remembering the blessed birth of the Holy Prophet, they seek the grace and mercy of Allah Almighty. One of the well-known benefits of Meelaad Shareef gatherings is that the year passes with peace, and it is a sign of quickly achieving one's aims and needs. So, Allah's mercy be upon the person who made the nights of the Prophet's birth month like a Eid, and may hardship fall on the one whose heart is filled with hatred and malice." (Almawaahib Volume 1 Page 261)

The Commemoration Of The Meelaad Shareef Has Always Been A Cherished Practice Within The Ummah

The Commemoration Of The Meelaad Shareef Has Always Been A Cherished Practice Within The Ummah

When discussing the legitimacy of Meelaad Shareef gatherings, it is particularly noteworthy that the great scholars of Hadith themselves recognized and recorded the mention of the Holy Prophet's blessed birth in their works. Among them is Imam Tirmidhi Alaihir Rahmah, who dedicated an entire chapter in his Jaami' Tirmidhi titled: "Chapter on What Has Been Narrated Regarding the Meelaadun-Nabi."- (Tirmidhi Shareef)

This alone demonstrates that celebrating the Holy Prophet's Meelaad Shareef was not only commendable but widely acknowledged among the pious predecessors. Had it been impermissible, a scholar of Imam Tirmidhi's stature would never have included it, nor would later scholars have left it unchallenged. This shows that remembering Meeladun-Nabi has long been a customary and accepted practice within the Ummah.

The true essence of Meelaad Shareef is to follow the blessed Sunnah of the Holy Prophet, live as his devoted servants, and embody his teachings in our daily lives, thereby attaining success in this world and the Hereafter. May Allah Almighty make us sincere lovers of the Holy Prophet and grant us his noble intercession. Aameen

The Excellence of the Prophet's Meelaad and the Blessings of Remembering Him

The Excellence of the Prophet's Meelaad and the Blessings of Remembering Him

The Ahl-e-Sunnat celebrate the blessed Meelaadun-Nabi with great devotion and abundance. This is because we firmly believe that the foundation of faith and Imaan lies in the remembrance of the Beloved Prophet. Remembrance cultivates love, and it is through love that faith and Imaan reaches its perfection. As it is said:

مَن أَحَبَّ شَيْئًا أَكْثَرَ ذِكْرَهُ

"Whoever loves something, remembers it frequently."

Thus, the frequent and heartfelt remembrance of the Messenger of Allah during the Meelaad Shareef is a clear testament to the faith and devotion of the Ahl-e-Sunnat. Indeed, the very act of remembering the Holy Prophet is in itself a profound act of worship.

This truth is beautifully affirmed in a Hadith Shareef narrated by Sayyiduna Mu'aadh RadiAllahu Anhu, in which the Messenger of Allah said:

ذِكْرُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ مِنَ الْعِبَادَةِ، وَذِكْرُ الصَّالِحِينَ كَفَّارَةٌ، وَذِكْرُ الْمَوْتِ صَدَقَةٌ. وَذِكْرُ الْقَبْرِ يُقَرِّبُكُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ.

"The remembrance of the Prophets is an act of worship; the remembrance of the righteous expiates sins; the remembrance of death is Sadaqah; and the remembrance of the grave brings one closer to Paradise." (Al-Jaami'us-Sagheer wa Sharhuhus-Siraajul-Muneer)

Meelaad Shareef Decoration

Meelad Shareef Decoration

A man once asked Imam-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat,, Sayyidi Ala Hazrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khan Alaihir Rahmah:

"In the celebration of Meelaad Shareef, is the use of chandeliers, lanterns, and decorative lights considered extravagance?"

He replied, quoting the words of the scholars:

لَا خَيْرَ فِي الْإِسْرَافِ وَلَا إِسْرَافَ فِي الْخَيْرِ

"There is no virtue in extravagance, and there is no extravagance in spending for a virtuous cause."

Thus, anything done with the intention of honoring and venerating the

Blessed Meelaad Shareef can never be deemed impermissible. (Malfoozat-e-Ala Hazrat, Part 1, Page 174, Maktaba-tul-Madinah, Karachi)

From this we understand that:

Illuminating and adorning the Meelaad Shareef, when done with the intention of honoring the Messenger, is permissible.

Wastefulness is blameworthy, but spending on virtuous causes is never extravagance.

Honoring the sacred symbols of Islam is a mark of true piety.

A pure intention turns an action into worship, while ostentation renders it void.

In matters of religion, seeking the guidance of scholars is indispensable.

The Reward of Performing Salaah in the First Row

The Reward of Performing Salaah in the First Row

A man once asked the Imam-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat, Sayyidi Ala Hazrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khan Alaihir Rahmah:

"Is there greater reward in Performing Salaah in the first row?"

Sayyidi Ala Hazrat Alaihir Rahmah, quoting a noble Hadith, replied:

"If people truly realized the immense reward of performing Salaah in the first row then they would certainly draw lots for it, for everyone would wish to stand there, and due to limited space, the matter would have to be decided by casting lots. The mercy of Allah Almighty first descends upon the Imam, then upon those directly in line with him in the first row, then to the right, then to the left. In the second row likewise, beginning with the one aligned with the Imam, then to the right, then to the left, continuing in this manner until the final rows." (Malfoozat-e-Ala Hazrat, Part 1, Page 156)

From this we learn that one should always strive to perform Salaah in congregation and endeavor to attain a place in the first row. Hastening towards good deeds and excelling in matters of Deen is a commendable quality. The mercy of Allah Almighty begins with the Imam and then spreads across the congregation, reminding both the Imam and the Muqtadi to offer their Salaah with sincerity, humility, and devotion.

Tariqat Can Never Be Separated From The Shariat

When Imam-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat, the great reviver of Islam, Sayyidi Ala Hazrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khan Alaihir Rahmah, was asked about the reality of Shariat and Tariqat, he explained this profound relationship with the clarity and authority of a mujaddid. He affirmed that every Muslim, without exception, is in constant need of the Shariat at every breath, every moment, every instant, until the final breath of life. And those who enter the delicate path of Tariqat are in even greater need, for the narrower and more subtle the way, the greater is the necessity of a guide to traverse it.

He further declared with certainty:

Indeed, the Shariat is the very foundation of all matters. It is the source, while Tariqat is a stream that flows from it. The Shariat is the tree, and Ma'rifat (The deep knowledge of Allah Almighty) is its fruit.
