Ya Hussain (Radi Allahu Anhu)

Here are some writings and sayings about Karbala and the sacrifice of our Beloved Sayyidina Imam Hussain (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu), from famous Ahle Sunnah wal Jamaat scholars & poets:

Ala Hazrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khan (Rahmatullahi Ta'ala Alayh) writes in his Hada’iq-e-Bakshsish [Part 2, page 32] entitled:

Nafir e dil e taftgaan e Karb o Bala bar dar e Hussain Sayyid al Shuhada 'ala jaddah 'alayhi as-Salatu wa thanaa

Meaning:
The Trumpet of the Frail-Hearted of Sadness & Pain, at the Gate of the Master of the Martyrs - upon him and his Ancestor be the loftiest of blessings and praise!

An extract from this elegy is translated below:

-Ya Shaheed e Karbala , Ya Dafa' e karb o bala
Gul rukhaa, shehzaada-ye gulgooN qabaa imdaad kun!

Ay Hussain ay Mustafa ra raahat e jaan, noor e 'ayn
Raahat e jaan noor e aynam deh bay-aa imdaad kun!

O Martyr of Karbala, O remover of sadness and pain [karb o bala]
Oh rose-cheeked one, prince of the rose-coloured cloak, help!

Oh Hussain, o comfort of the Soul of the Prophet, o the light of his Eyes,
O comfort of my life, light of my eyes, come, help me! ”

Dr. Iqbal writes:

“ Rawney wala huun Shaheed-e-Karbala ke gham mein main,
Kya duurey maqsad na dengey Saaqiye Kawsar mujhe!

I am one who weeps at the plight of the Martyr of Karbala
Won't the reward be given to me by the Keeper of Kawser”

 Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (Rahmatullahi Ta'ala Alayh) says:

“ Shah ast Hussain, Badshah ast Hussain,
Deen ast Hussain, Deen-e-Panah ast Hussain,
Sar daad, na daad dast, dar dast-e-yazeed,
Haqaa ke binaey La ila ast Hussain

Ruler is Hussain, Emperor is Hussain,
Faith is Hussain, Guardian of faith is Hussain,
Offered his head and not the hand to Yazid,
Indeed, Hussain is the foundation of 'La ilah'. ”

Hazrat Mawlana Hassan Raza Khan (Rahmatullahi Ta'ala Alayh) writes in his book, Ain-e-Qiyamat:

“ When we examine the Holy Prophet's (ﷺ) immense love for his beloved grandsons and then remember their martyrdom, we do become tearful - nay, we shed oceans of tears. ”

He also states the following Hadith Sharif:

“ The Holy Prophet () stated, "Hussain is from me & I am from Hussain. May Allah keep him as a friend who keeps Hussain as a friend."
[Tirmidhi - Hadith no. 3800]

The Holy Prophet () declared, "these two sons of mine [Hassan & Hussain(Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhum)] are the leaders of the youth in Paradise."
[Tirmidhi - Hadith no. 3793]

Imam Hassan (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) once climbed onto shoulders of the Holy Prophet (). A person who was present said, "O blessed son, what a nice steed you have'. The Holy Prophet replied, 'And how nice a rider too."
[Tirmidhi - Hadith no. 3809] ”

Hakim Sana'i (Rahmatullahi Ta'ala Alayh) wrote a poem about Karbala, here is the excerpt from his ‘Garden of Truth’:

“ How excellent Karbala!
And that honour it received,

Which brought to mankind the scent of Paradise as if
on a breeze;

And that body, headless, lying in clay and dust,

And those precious ones, hearts rent by the sword.

And that elect of all the world, murdered,
His body smeared with earth and blood;

And those great oppressors, those doers of evil,
Persistent in the evil they do.
The sanctity of religion and the Family of the Prophet()
Are both borne away, both by ignorance and inanity;

Swords are red like precious ruby with the blood of Hussain (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu)

What disgrace in the world worse than this!

And Mustafa, his garments all torn,
And Ali, tears of blood raining from his eyes.

A whole world has become insolent in its cruelty;
The cunning fox (Yazid) has become a vain, boastful lion.

But still unbelievers at the start of the battle,
Were reminded of the stroke of Dhu'l-Fiqar (Hazrat Ali's (KaramAllahu Ta'ala Wajhahul Kareem) sword).

Yes, from Hussain (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) they sought satisfaction for their rancor
But that was not to be;

They had to be content with their own malice and disgrace.

And know that any who speak ill of those (murderous) dogs
Will be kings in the world to come! ”

SubhanAllah, love for the Ahl-e-Bayt & all Noble Companions is the true way of Islam.
