Secrets Pertaining To The Times Of Salah

Fajr
When Sayyiduna Adam alay his salam descended on the Earth from Heaven, it was the time of night, and it was the first time he had seen this world. He was in a state of shock as he had never seen darkness or night before [as in Jannah, night does not exist] [1]. When dawn broke, he prayed 2 cycles [Rak'ah] thankfulness to Allah. One cycle thanking Allah for removing him from the darkness of the night and second rakat for blessing him with the light of the day. He prayed these Rakahs as Nafl and it has been made Fard upon us so that the darkness of sins in which we are living in, is removed from our lives and we acquire the light of obedience.

Zohr
After midday, Sayyiduna Ibrahim alayhis salam was the first to pray Salah. He prayed 4 Rakah Salah to Allah thanking him for sending a replacement sacrifice instead of his son, Sayyiduna Ismayil alayhis salam.

The first Rakah was prayed for removing the anxiety of his Son
The second Rakah for the sending of the sheep as a sacrifice
The third was prayed expressing gratefulness at the happiness of his Lord
The fourth was prayed out of happiness due to the fact that Sayyiduna Ismayil alay his salam was ready to sacrifice his life at the command of Allah.
He prayed it as Nafl but it has been made fard upon us so that Allah gives us the power to kill our desires just as he gave Sayyiduna Ibrahim alayhis Salam the power to sacrifice his son in the path of Allah; also so that he removes from us our anxieties and he takes the Christians and Jews as our replacements and save us from the hell fire and also that he may be pleased with us and our actions.

Asr
The first to pray 'Asr was Sayyiduna Yunus alayhis salam for Allah saved him from 4 darknesses .

The darkness of mistakes
The darkness of melancholy
The darkness of the sea
The darkness of the whale’s stomach
It was Nafl for him but made fard upon us so that Allah saves us from the darkness of sins, the darkness of the grave, the darkness of (the tribulations) of Qiyamat, and the darkness of hell.

Maghrib
The first to pray Maghrib was Sayyiduna Iysa alayhis salam.

He prayed the first negating his own divinity
The second negating his mother’s divinity
The third affirming the divinity of Allah.
It was Nafl for him but made Fard upon us so that on the day of resurrection: our accounting (for sins and rewards) is made easy for us; we are saved from the fire of hell and granted salvation from the great agitation that will take place on that day; and finally, that we remove ourselves from out self conceited pride and we specially humble ourselves for the sake of Allah.

Isha
The first to pray Isha Salah was Sayyiduna Musa alayhis salam, when he was returning from the Madayin[2] and He forgot his way. He was overcome by 4 problems:

Sadness due to separation from his wife
Worry for his children
Anxiety of behalf of his Brother
Concern of being captured by Firawn.
When Allah granted him salvation from all his worries, he prayed 4 Rakah Nafl Salah which has been made Fard upon us so that Allah also shows us the path [to salvation]; that He blesses us in our works; that He grants us union with our beloveds, and grant us victory over our enemies.

Eesaal e Thawaab (Sending Reward to the Deceased)

Just as we benefit our near and dear ones in their lifetime, we should make it our duty to remember them once they have passed from this mundane world. It is our duty to send Thawaab to their souls and to remember them at all times in our Duas. Today, we find very few communities who make effort to visit their deceased and to send Thawaab to them. It is the belief of the Ahle Sunnat that the Thawaab which we send to the deceased reaches them, and not only does it reach them but it is a means of great benefit to them and to us as well. This is evident from the following incident:

Ibn Najar reported in Taarikh from Malik bin Dinar (radi Allahu anhu) wherein he says, I entered a cemetery on the eve of a Friday and there I saw a Noor glowing radiantly, so I said, ‘Laa Ilaaha Il’lal Laah’ It seems as if Almighty Allah has forgiven those in this cemetery. Just then I heard a voice from the unseen which said; O Malik bin Dinar (radi Allahu anhu)! This (Noor) is the gift of the Believers (which they have sent) towards their believing brothers. I gave the medium of Allah’s Name to the unseen voice and said; (Tell me) who sent this Thawaab (to them)? The voice said, A believing servant entered this cemetery and performed the suitable Wudu. He then performed 2 Raka’at Namaaz, and thereafter he sent the Thawaab of this to the deceased in the cemetery, so Almighty Allah blessed us with this Brightness and Light, due to this Thawaab (reward). Malik bin Dinar (radi Allahu anhu) says, I also made it habitual to send the Gift of Thawaab on the eve of every Friday (to the deceased), so I was blessed with the Ziyaarat of Rasoolullah (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam) in my dream. He (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam) was saying, O Malik! In return for the amount of Noor which you have gifted (the deceased), Almighty Allah has pardoned you and He has erected for you in Jannat a Glorious Palace.

Amr ibn Jareer reported, when a person makes Dua for his deceased brother, an Angel carries the Dua to his grave and says, O you who are in the grave! This is a gift for you from your generous brother.

Allah bless us with the Taufeeq to always send the reward of our virtuous deeds to our deceased. Allah Keep us all with Imaan and allow us to leave this world with Imaan. Aameen…..

Jummah Mubaarak!

Maslak e Aala Hazrat, Zindabaad!

The Holy Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) used to fast in Sha'ban abundantly

It is mentioned in Sahih Bukhari: Sayyidatuna Ayesha Siddiqah (Radi Allahu Anha) said that the Beloved Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) would not fast so abundantly in any other month as he (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) would in Sha'ban, rather he (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) used to fast the whole month and would say, "Act according to your capability as Allah does not cease His blessings until you become exhausted." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 1, Page 648, Hadith 1970]

Allamah Mufti Sharif al-Haq Amjadi (Alayhir Rahmah) has elaborated on this hadith as follows: It means that he used to observe fasts in most of the days of Sha'ban and it was referred to as the whole (i.e. the fasts of the whole month). It is usually said, "Such and such a person worshipped the whole night"; although he would have spent time in eating and answering his needs. In such cases, "mostly" is referred to as "the whole".

He (Alayhir Rahmah) further stated: From this hadith we learn that one bearing the capability to do so, should observe fasts extensively. However, the one who is weak should not fast as it may adversely affect his capability to fast in the month of Ramadan. The same point has been asserted in those Ahadith in which it was stated, "Do not fast after the first half of Sha'ban."

Acceptance Of Du'a

Hadrat Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik   has narrated that the Noble Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) has said:

“There is a night in Rajab in which the worshipper is granted a reward of 100 years worth of Thawab and that night is the 27th of Rajab. Whoever offers 12 Rak’at in this night reciting Surah Fatiha followed by any other Surah in each Rak’at; Attaiyyat after every two Rak’at; SubhanAllahi wal Hamdu Lillahi wa la Ilaaha IllAllahu wallahu Akbar, Istighfar, and Durood Sharif each a hundred (100) times after the Salam (completing the Salah). Then he does Du'a asking for anything of this world or the hereafter and fasts the next day, Allah will accept all his/her supplications except those that were made for a sin.”

Mi-iraj - PT 1‏ (Kiswahili)

Assalaamu alaikum,

Natumai hamjambo.
Hivyo nitakuwa natuma risala fupi fupi kuhusu msafara huo in sha Allah.
i)                   Kwanza kabisa, Allah Ametaja Utukufu Wake kwa kuanza aya.
Maswali / maoni yanakaribishwa.
JazakAllah,
Muhammad KHATRI

Hadrat Sayyiduna Salman Farsi (Radi Allahu Anhu) has narrated that the Noble Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said, “There is a day and a night in the month of Rajab; if a person fasts during the day and stands (for worship) in the night, it will be as if he fasted for one hundred years. This is the 27th of Rajab. This is the day on which Muammad (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) declared as a Prophet.” [Shu'ab al-Iman, Vol. 3, Page 374, Hadith 3811]

16. Sayyiduna Abdullah Ibn Al-Mubarak was asked: Which of them is better: Mu'awiyah Ibn Abi Sufiyan or Umar Ibn Abdul Aziz? He said:

By Allah, the dust that has entered the nose of Mu'awiya with the Messenger of Allah is better than Umar one thousand times. Muawiya prayed behind the Messenger of Allah. When he said: Sami' Allahu li man hamida (Allah listens to one who praises him i.e when rising from Ruku) Muawiya said: Rabbana wa laka Al-Hamd (Our Lord to you is the praise). What do you want more than this? [Wafiyat al Ayan li Ibn Khalkan, Vol. 3, Page 33]

17. Umm Alqamah narrated that

Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufiyan (Radi Allahu Anhuma) came to Madinah and asked for the blanket and hair of the Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) from Sayyidah Aisha (Radi Allahu Anha) then He (Radi Allahu Anhu) covered himself with the blanket, dipped the hair in water, drank and put on his body. 18. Sayyidunah Qatada (Radi Allah Anhu) said:

If you woke up seeing deeds similar to those of Muawiya, most of you would have said this is the Mehdi. [Al-Sunnah lil Khallal, Vol. 1, Page 438]

19. Hafiz Abul Qasim ibn 'Asakir has documented in Tarikh Dimashq that Imam an-Nasa'i was asked about Mu'awiyah. His reply was:

Islam is like a house with a door. The door of Islam is the Sahaba. Whoever speaks ill of the Sahaba seeks but to harm Islam, just like one who knocks a door to enter a house. As for Mu'awiyah, whoever speaks ill of him seeks to find a way to speak ill of the Sahaba." [Tahdhib al-Kamal, Vol. 1, Page 339]

20. Hadrat Imam-e-Rabbani Mujaddid Alf Thani (Alayhir Rahmah) says:

Imam Malik, who is amongst Tabiin , and a great scholar of Madinah, he gave fatwa of capital punishment for him who talks ill about Muawiya and Umru bin Aas as we have mentioned earlier. If Muawiya was indeed such a person , than why should he gave fatwa of capital punishment to him who talks ill about him (i.e Muawiyah). So from this we understand that talking ill about him was considered by him amongst the greater sins. From this , we also understand that talking ill about him is like talking ill about Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman , hence Ameer Muawiyah must not be talked ill about. [Maktubat Imam Rabbani, Vol. 4, Page 251]

21. AlaHadrat Ash-Shah Imam Ahmad Rida Khan (Alayhir Rahmah) states:

Whoever reviles Hadrat Ameer Mu'awiyah is a dog from the dogs of hell. [Ahkam-e-Shari'at, Page 119]

22. Hakim al-Ummah, Mufti Ahmad Yaar Khan Na'eemi (Alayhir Rahmah) says:

One who calls Ameer Mu'awiyah a fasiq is completely out of deen. [Dated: 23/10/1969]

Two Jannats

Ibn Asaakir reports with his own merit from Abu Ayub Khaza’i (radi Allahu anhu) that during the reign of Hazrat Umar ibn Khattab (radi Allahu anhu) there was a young worshipper who remained in the Masjid at all times in constant Ibaadat, and he was very much liked by Hazrat Umar (radi Allahu anhu). He had a father who was very old, and at night he would go to his father (to serve him). On the way (to his home) was the house of a malicious woman, who became obsessed with him, so daily she would come out and stand on the path which he took, until one day she convincingly took him to the door of her home. As he was about to enter, he remembered Almighty Allah and immediately recited the verse of the Qur’an: Verily those who fear (Allah), whenever they are lured by some devilish enticement, they become forewarned, (and) immediately their eyes are opened (to the reality). [Part 9, Surah Al A’raf Verse 201] The moment he recited this Ayah, the young man fell down unconscious. The lady summoned her female servant and they both dragged him and dumped him at the entrance of his home. When his father went out in search of him, he found him unconscious at the entrance of his home. He picked him up and carried him into the house. As the night came to an end, he regained consciousness, so his father said, O my dear son! What happened to you? He said, All is now well. His father said; I give you the Name of Allah! Please inform me of what happened to you? Hence, he explained the entire situation to his father. His father asked, Which verse did you read? He again recited the same verse, and as soon as he recited it, he again collapsed. Those present tried to shake him, but realised that he had passed away. Hence, he was buried by the people that very night. In the morning the news of this was given to Hazrat Umar (radi Allahu anhu) so he went to the father to console him. He said to the father, Why did you not inform me of this? He said, O Ameerul Momineen! It was late at night and it would have caused you discomfort. He said, Take me to his grave! He then went with his companions to the young man’s grave and said, ‘And for him, who fears to stand before his Rub, there are two Jannats’ [Part 27 Surah Rahmaan Verse 46] The young man then replied from inside his grave. He said, O Umar (radi Allahu anhu)!  My Rub has already blessed me with both those Jannats.

My Dear Brothers in Islam! This was a personality who had no intention of sinning, but he was convinced by a sinful female to enter her home, but his heart was full of Imaan and fear for Allah, so on reciting the verse of the Qur’an, he realised he was at a place where he would fall into sin. He abstained, so look at the blessing which he attained. Now! My young brothers, those of you that proudly (Allah forbid) and arrogantly commit adultery and without even being wrongly drawn, you attempt to draw women towards sin, do you not fear Allah? Do you not fear the fire of Hell, The fuel of which is Man and Jin? Whenever your mind wanders and your heart errs, remember the above narration, and think about your actions! Do you not fear that you are taking the honour of one of your sisters? Have you not realised that a believing sister is the sister, mother and daughter of someone, but more importantly she is a servant of Allah and an Ummah of Rasoolullah (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam)? How can a person who claims to be a believer, ever allow himself to cause a believing sister to be treated by him so vilely? Have you forgotten that she will die one day and so will you? Repent! Repent! Repent!

TAUHEED Doctrine of Oneness

It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira Radi Allahu Taala Anhu. We were sitting around the Messenger of Allah Sallal laahu Alaihi Wasallam (may peace and blessings be upon him). Abu Bakr Radi Allahu Anhu and Umar Radi Allahu Anhu were also there amongst the audience. The Messenger Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam got up and left us, he delayed in coming back which caused us anxiety that he might be in some problem; so being alarmed we got up.

I was the first to be alarmed, therefore I went out to look for the Messenger of Allah Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam (may peace and blessings be upon him) and came to a garden belonging to the Banu-an-Najjar. I went round it looking for a gate but failed to find one. Seeing a rabee' ( stream-let) flowing into the garden from a well outside, I drew myself together like a fox and wriggled into the garden and presented myself where the Prophet Sallal Laahu Aliahi wasallam was.

He(the Holy Prophet) Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “O Abu Huraira”, to which I replied “Yes Ya Rasool-Allah I am present.” The Holy Prophet Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “What is the matter with you?”, to which I replied “You were amongst us but got up and went away and delayed in returning for a while, so fearing that you might be attacked by some enemy when we were not with you, we became alarmed. We all set out to look for you, I was the first to be alarmed so I came to this garden and drew myself together as a fox does and entered. The other people are following me.”

The Prophet Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam gave me his Blessed sandals and said “O Abu Hurairah, take away these sandals of mine, and when you meet anyone outside this garden who testifies that there is none worthy of worship but Allah, being assured of it in his heart, gladden him by announcing that he shall go to Paradise.”

Sayyiduna Abu Huraira says, “the first one I met was Umar.” He asked: “What are these sandals, Abu Huraira?” I replied: “These are the sandals of the Messenger of Allah with which he has sent me to gladden anyone I meet who testifies that there is none worthy of worship but Allah, being assured of it in his heart, with the announcement that he would go to Paradise.”

Thereupon Umar struck me on the breast and I fell backwards. He then said: “Go back, Abu Huraira” , so I returned to the Messenger of Allah Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam(may peace be upon him) and started to cry. Umar had followed me closely and was behind me. The Messenger of Allah Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam (may peace and blessings be on him) said“What is the matter with you, Abu Huraira?”. I said “I happened to meet Umar and conveyed to him the message with which you sent me.He struck me on my breast which made me fall down and ordered me to go back.”

Upon this the Messenger of Allah Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam(may peace beupon him) said, “What prompted you to do this, 'Umar?”. He said: “Ya Rasool-Allah, may my mother and father be sacrificed to thee, did you send Abu Huraira with your sandals to gladden anyone he met and who testified that there is none worthy of worship but Allah, and being assured of it in his heart, with the tidings that he would go to Paradise?”. He replied “Yes.” Umar said: “Ya Rasool-Allah, please don't, for I am afraid that people will trust in it alone; let them go on doing (good) deeds.” The Messenger of Allah Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam (may peace be upon him) said: “OK,let them do good deeds.”

In The Precints Of Koh e Qaaf

The great gawth states that his lectures are for those men of the unseen who live in the precints of koh e Qaaf, their feet are on air but Allah has caused that heart to burn in the flames of divine love in the eagerness of divine union. When Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani declared this his son Sayyid Abdur Razzaq Jilani was sitting at the feet of his father besides the mimbar, he lifted up his head and for a few moments became awe stricken and fell unconscious to the floor. When this happened his clothes and turban burst into flames. The Gawth immediately descended from the Mimbar and extinguished the flames and said Abdur Razzaq you are also one of them. The narrator says that after the termination of the session he enquired from Sayyiduna Abdur Razzaq about his experience. He replied When my illustrious father made that declaration I looked up into the sky and saw a huge gathering of Men of the unseen standing checked in absolute attention as if enraptured by Divine Awe. Their clothes were on Fire. Some of them were screaming while others were in a state of spiritual delight pinned to their places. There were some who were so overcome with awe of my father that they fell to the ground.

Turning Faces Left To Right, Making Dhikr?

Have you ever wondered why is it that some people while making zikr turn their faces from right to left?

Hazrat Ali RadiAllahu An , asked our Master the Prophet SallAllahu Alai Wassalam, to teach him the easiest, the most valuable, the most immediate way to salvation.

Hazrat Jibraeel Alaihis Salaam brought the answer from the divine source. He came and taught our Master to say,

"La ilaha" - there is no God, no other reality -
while turning his blessed face to the right;

and to say

"illAllah" - but God alone, Allah alone, the Supreme Reality alone  while turning his face to his left, towards his blessed pure heart.

Our Master, the Prophet repeated this 3 times; and then taught it to Hazrat Ali, making him repeat it 3 times. Then he taught the Divine Witnessing of Grand Unity, Oneness (Tawhid) in the same manner to his companions. Hazrat Ali was the first to ask for it and was the first to be taught.

The Secret of Secrets (Sirr al-Asrar) by Hadrat 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani

"Sufiya Iqraam have mentioned regarding this, when one turns from right to left and ends with "illAllah" at his heart it means

Right to left is the co ordonites of the world (East and West), so by us making zikr this way we are making our hearts acknowledge " There is no God but Allah" in the East to the West (Meaning the hole world: to get to to West from East you have to pass North and from West to East you have to pass South)

Another meaning would be as the action you make from right to left is the action of Negative answer (No), likewise you making your heart acknowledge the fact that there IS NO GOD BUT ALLAH..."

The Five Treasures Of The Qadri Order

Huzur Ghauthul Azam Sheikh Abdul Qadir Al Jilani Radi Allahu Ta'aala Anhu has commanded his Mureedeen to recite the five treasures of the Qadiri Order after each Salah 100 times.By adding the Blessed name of Allah Almighty it completes its astounding benefits;

1.YAA AZEEZU YAA ALLAH (O All Mighty One, O Allah) after Fajr Salah

2.YAA KAREEMU YAA ALLAH (O Ever Generous One ,O Allah ) after Zuhr Salah

3.YAA  JABBAARU YAA ALLAH ( O All Compelling One, O Allah ) after Asar Salah

4.YAA SATTAARU YAA ALLAH ( O Coverer of faults, O Allah ) after Maghrib Salah

5.YAA GHAFFAARU YAA ALLAH ( O All Forgiving One ,O Allah ) after Isha Salah.

Men of extreme spiritual wisdom know very well the secrets these particular supplications hold and what benefits the timing of these supplications hold.

My habit is one of summarizing so i will present a brief summary below;

1.YAA AZEEZU has been commanded to us to read after the Fajr prayer, this is due to the commencing of the day, one is preoccupied in fulfilling his worldly chores and will comes into contact with friends and enemies. Ya Azeez means O All Mighty, The Strong, Dignified and Powerful.

By reciting this attribute one will overcome all problems and will gain honour, dignity and respect especially when faced with difficult situations.

Without doubt one who remembers Allah Almighty is honorable and overcomes his adversaries .

2.YAA KAREEMU has been commanded to us to read after the Zuhr Salah. The rule is that flowers open their buds in the evening and spread their fragrance throughout the night and wither in the afternoon, therefore to recite this attribute at this time one has great hope of increasing ones sustenance.

3.YAA JABBAARU is to be read after the Asar Salah, it is from the Asmaae Jalaaliyyah (very powerful) and is an Isme Qehri. The time of Asar is when iblees calls a meeting on the surface of the ocean with great pride and show, where all the shayaateen gather to discuss ways in which to deceive and destroy mankind. Every Human has an individual shaytaan who attends this meeting and it is here where it is decided between the shaytaans that you will do this and i will do that.

Therefore this is the time to remember Allah Almighty with this name so that his wrath be on these shayateen and his protection be on us from their mischief.

4.YAA SATTAARU is to be read after Maghrib Salah once the sun has set, and darkness sets. This is the time when animals of prey, snakes, thieves, robbers and other harms are out and about. Calamities and catastrophes swirls around in the darkness, hence the meaning of reciting this supplication is to call on the Almighty to protect and safeguard us from all these dangers. Furthermore mankind tends to commit more sins during the night, which is why one should seek his protection at the beginning of the night so that we are veiled from this and we remain steadfast .

5. YAA GHAFAARU is to be read after Isha Salah, the sins committed by mankind during the day for which he is punishable, The Mercy of Allah Almighty prevents the Kiraaman Kaatibeen ( Honourable recorders ) from recording these until one goes to sleep without repenting and asking for forgiveness.

If one asks for forgiveness and repents for his sins before sleeping i.e by reciting Yaa Ghafaaru Allah Almighty will erase these from his book of bad deeds.

This is also one of the reasons we have been instructed to avoid worldly conversation after the Isha Prayer, and also to delay Isha for a part of the night is better so that one can sleep immediately after performing Isha Salah.

The benefits of repenting cannot be described .It is stated in a Hadith Shareef the one who repents after sinning it is like he has not committed that sin at all. ( Sunan ibn Maajah ,Sunan albayhaqi alkubra )

In another Hadith Shareef it is stated glad tidings be for one who finds plenty of istighfaar in his book of deeds ..(Ibn Maaajah ,baabul istighfaar )

In Surah Nooh it is stated [Nooh 71:10] “I therefore told them, ‘Seek forgiveness from your Lord; He is indeed Most Forgiving.

[Nooh 71:11] ‘He will send down abundant rain for you from the sky.’

[Nooh 71:12] ‘And will aid you with wealth and sons, and will create gardens for you and cause rivers to flow for you.’

Sayyiduna Huzaifa Radi Allahu Taala Anhu one presented his ailment of his tongue, in the Blessed court of the Most Beloved Salal laahu Alaihi Wa Aalihee Wasallam which wasnt being cured by medicines, to which The Most Beloved Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wa Aalihi Wasallam prescribed Istighfaar.(alzohd li'ibn Hambal)

Imaam Ul Aarifeen Sayyiduna Hassan Basri Radi Allahu Anhu was approached by a group of people at the time of famine to which the great Imam prescribed Repentance in abundance, one complained of difficulty with finances and daily life to which they again prescribed repentance with abundance. Another complained regarding his crops withering and drying and his orchards drying up to which he was also given the wazifa of repentance. After this the final questioner asked regarding him not having any children he also was given the wazifa of repenting and begging for forgiveness, due to istighfar all these people were successful in their needs.

Blessed Penny

Once A'la Hadrat Alayhi Rehmah was to go harbour to welcome the Hujjaj (Hajj-pilgrims). The hired transport got late. One of the devotees, Ghulam Nabi went to bring a horse-cart without informing anyone. When he returned with the horse-cart, he saw that the booked transport had also arrived. He then gave a penny (quarter of a rupee) to the cart owner and let him go. Nobody else was aware of this incident. After four days, Ghulam Nabi came in the great court of A'la Hadrat Alayhi Rehmah who gave him a penny. He asked " What is the penny for ? " A'la Hadrat Alayhi Rehmah replied " That day you gave a penny to the cart man. " Ghulam Nabi became astonished as he had not told the incident to anybody yet A'la Hadrat Alayhi Rehmah became aware of it. Seeing him in deep thought people said, " Why are you loosing this penny , take it as a sacred relic. " He then took the penny. As long as that sacred penny remained in his possession, he did not face financial problem.

The Deceased Await your Visits

Always remember to visit the deceased members of your family. Visiting the graves is the manner of the Beloved Rasool (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallam), The Sahaba e Kiraam and the pious predecessors. When visiting the graves, it firstly reminds us of our death and secondly, our visits benefit our deceased family members. They find comfort and solace in our visits and look forward to us visiting them.

Ibn Abi Duniya and Baihaqi reported from Uthman bin Saudah (His mother was known as Raahiba due to immense Ibaadat) who said, ‘When my mother passed away, then I would visit her on the eve of every Friday, and I would then make Dua e Maghfirat for her and for all the dwellers of the graves. One night, I saw her in my dream, and I asked her, How are you today? She said, my dear son! The discomfort of death is intense, but Alhamdulillah I am in a very blessed Barzakh. In it I lay a bed of flowers and I use a pillow of ‘Sandas’ and ‘Istabraq’ (silken fabric). I said, Do you have any need? She said, Yes. I said, What is it? She said, Never stop visiting me, because by you coming I feel peace, and when you visit, then the other deceased give me glad tidings saying, a visitor is coming from your home, and they too become happy (and excited).

Sometimes when we visit the graves, we go to the graves of a deceased because we partook in his Janaazah Namaaz, and we accompany the Mayyit to the cemetery. After the deceased has been buried we leave, but we seldom take note that we should make Dua for our deceased family members who rest in the same graveyard. We should try to go to their graves whilst at that particular graveyard, even if it is for a few short moments. When we go to the cemetery where our relatives and friends are resting and we do not visit them or pay attention to them, it saddens them and they are aware of this.

Hazrat Hafiz Ibn Rajab (radi Allahu anhu) states, Ali bin Abdus Samad reported to me with his own merit from Asad bin Musa that,  ‘One of my friends passed away and I saw him in my dream one day. He said to me, Subhaan’Allah! You visited the grave of such and such person and you sat there, and then made Dua e Maghfirat for him, but why did you not visit me? I said, How did you know this, and how did you see this whereas you are pressed under such a huge amount of sand? So he said, Do you not understand how water can be seen when it is inside a (transparent) bottle.’

Subhaan’Allah! The first narration also proves that the deceased are aware of our visits even before we visit them, and the second narration shows how clearly they are able to observe us.

Do Not Pluck White Hair

Do not pluck white hair, for verily each one will be a means of noor (light) on the day of judgement.

According to some narrations, one will be rewarded for each strand.

HIS POSITION IN THE SILSILA: Hadrat Sayyiduna Imam Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu is the Sixth Imam and Shaykh of the Silsila Aaliyah Qadiriyah Barakatiyah Ridawiyyah Nooriyah. Much has been said in his praise by many great scholars.

BIRTH: He was born on a Monday, the 7th of Rabi ul Awwal in either 80 or 83 Hijri in Madinah Munawwarah. [Masaalik as-Saalikeen, Vol.1, Page 217]

HIS NAME: His name was Jaafar bin Muhammad, and he was also known as Abu Abdullah and Abu Ismaeel. His titles were Saadiq, Faadil and Taahir.

HIS MOTHER: His mother’s name was Umm-e-Fardah who was the daughter of Hadrat Qasim Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu, the grandson of Hadrat Abu Bakr Siddique Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu and Hadrat Qasim’s Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu mother, A’asma Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu is the daughter of Hadrat Abdur Rahmaan, the son of Hadrat Abu Bakr Siddique Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu.

HIS FEATURES: He was very handsome and had a radiant appearance. He had the perfect height, and was tan in complexion. He encompassed the exemplary qualities his forefathers. Haafiz Abu Nuaim Isfahani narrates in Khalifatul Abraar on the authority of Umar bin Midqaam, “When I used to look at Hadrat Imam Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu then I used to immediately feel that he was from amongst the descendants of the Prophets”

EXCELLENCE: He was without doubt the true successor to the Muslim empire and one of the greatest Imams of his era. Imam Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu was a great Aabid and Sufi. Many secrets of Tasawwuf were explained by him. It is in Tabqaatul Abraar, that he received the authority of Hadith from his blessed father, from Imam Zuhri and Naaf'i and ibn Munkadir etc. and Sufyaan Sawri, Ibn Ainiyyah, Shu’ba, Yahya Al Qataan, Imam Maalik and his son Imam Moosa Kaazim (ridwaanullahi ta aala alaihim ajmaeen) attained this authority of Hadith from him. Allama Ibn Hajar Makki Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu writes in Sawaa’iq Muhariqa . “The exalted Imams such as Yahya Bin Saeed, Ibn Jareeh, Imam Maalik ibn Anas, Imam Sufyaan Sawri, Sufyan bin Ainiyyah, Imam Abu Hanifa and Abu Ayoob Sajistani (ridwaanullahi ta aala alaihim ajmaeen) took Hadith from him.” [Masaalik as-Saalikeen]

HIS CHARACTER: He was a very exalted and pious personality. His inner and outer appearance exuded brightness and radiance. He addressed the poor and the downtrodden with great love. Once he called all his servants and said, “Let us give our hands in the hands of one another and promise that whichever one of us first receives salvation on the day of Qiyaamah, he will intercede for the rest of us.” On hearing this, they said, “O Ibn Rasool SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam! For what reason do you need our intercession, when your beloved forefather Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam will intercede for the entire creation?” He then said, “I am ashamed to take my deeds and stand before my forefather, the Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam.”

Once Hadrat Dawood Taa’ee Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu came to Hadrat Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu and said, “Beloved descendant of the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam please give some advice, as my heart has become dark.” Hadrat Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said, “O Abu Sulaiman! You are great Zaahid of your era. What need do you have for my advice?” Hadrat Dawood Taa’ee Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said, “O descendant of the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam, You have been blessed with excellence amongst people and to advise everyone is compulsory upon you.” He then said, “O Abu Sulaiman! I fear that on the day of Qiyaamah, my forefather Muhammadur Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam will hold me by my collar and ask, ‘Why were you slow in fulfilling your right to submission?’ What will I say then? Thus, this deed (of advice) does not depend on ones stature or family lineage, but it deals with good deeds which are done in the Court of Allah.” Hadrat Dawood Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu heard this and began to weep. He then said, “O Allah! When such a great personality, who is the descendant of a Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam, and whose reality is filled with light and wisdom, and whose great grandmother is Bibi Faatima, is so afraid of his future and condition, then what right does Dawood Taa’ee have do be proud of his deeds?” [Masaalik as-Saalikeen]

HIS IBAADAT: He was well known for his ibaadat, and his striving in the Court of Allah. Hadrat Imam Malik Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu says, “I spent a very long time serving him, and I always found him in one of three Ibaadats. Either he was in namaaz, or engrossed in recitation of the Quran, or he would be fasting.” He never narrated any Hadith Shareef without wudhu. [Tazkirat al-Awliya]

HIS DUA: He was without doubt a faithful servant of Allah, and he always attained everything that he asked for from the Court of Allah. Abul Qasim Tabri narrates from Wahab, that he heard Laith bin Sa’ad Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu saying, “I was on my way to Hajj by foot in 113 Hijri and I reached Makkah Muazammah. I reached Jabl Abu Qais close to the time of Asr Salaah. There, I saw a pious man sitting (in seclusion), making dua. He was saying ‘Ya Rabbi Ya Rabbi’ so many times, that breathing became difficult. Then in the same way, he said ‘Ya Hayy Ya Hayy’ then ‘Ya Rab’bahu Ya Rab’bahu, then in the same say, he said ‘Ya Allah Ya Allah’ in one breath continuously. He then said ‘Ya Rahmaanu Ya Rahmaanu, Ya Raheemu Ya Raheemu’ and then he went on to say ‘Ya Arhamar Raahimeen’. He then said, “O Allah I desire to eat grapes. Please bless me with some, and my clothes have become old and tattered Please give me new ones.”

Hadrat Laith says, “By Allah, he was still competing his dua, when I saw a basket of grapes kept before him, whereas it was not event the grape season and I did not see an grapes near him before his dua. I also saw that there were two pieces of cloth kept near the grapes. I have never seen such beautiful material before. He then sat down to eat the grapes. I went up to him and said, Huzoor! May I also have a part in this?, and he asked how this was so, so I said, I was saying Aameen as you made the dua. He said, ‘Well then, step forward and join me.’ I also began to partake in the grapes. They were so tasty, that never have I eaten such delicious grapes. I ate until I was satisfied, but the basket still remained as it was before, full of grapes. He then offered on piece of cloth to me, and I said that I had no need for it, so he tied one around his waist, and he draped the other over his shoulder. He then descended from the mountain and I followed him. As he drew close to Saffa and Marwa, a beggar called out to him and said, ‘O Descendant of the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam! Give these clothes to me and Allah will dress you in the clothes of Jannat.” He immediately gave the two pieces of cloth to the beggar. (On seeing this), I enquired about the identity of this pious man from the beggar, who informed me that he was Hadrat Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. I then looked for him so that I may listen to some words of wisdom from him and attain his blessings, but he had disappeared from my sight.” [Tazkirat al-Awliya, Page 12]

Once, some people saw that Hadrat Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu was wearing a very expensive robe. One of them walked up to him and said, “Huzoor! It is not good for the Ahle Bait to wear such expensive clothing.” He caught hold of the man’s hand and thrust it into his sleeves. The man was amazed when he found that a Hadrat was wearing clothes make from sacks under his robe. Hadrat Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu then said, “The one inside is for my Creator and the one on top is for the creation.”

A man once lost his purse which contained one thousand dinaars. Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu was walking close to him, so he held the hand of the Imam and accused him of stealing his money. Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu asked how much he had in his money bag, and the man said that he had one thousand dinaars. Hadrat took him home and gave him one thousand dinaars from his wealth. The next day, the man found his money bag, and came rushing to Hadrat Imam Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu to return the money he had taken from him. Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said, “We do not take back what we have already given.” The man then asked some people who this person was, and he was told that it was Hadrat Imam Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. When he heard this, he became very sad and regretted his behavior. [Tazkirat al-Awliya]

DEBATE WITH AN ATHEIST: Hadrat Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu spent a lot of his time spreading the word of Allah and His Rasool SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam. He always spoke against those who did not believe in Allah. An atheist from Egypt came to Hadrat Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu whilst he was in Makkah. Hadrat Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu asked his name and he said that his name was Abdul Malik and he was also known as Abdullah. On hearing this Hadrat said, “Malik, whose servant you are, is he from the Kingdom of the Skies or the Kingdom of the earth, the Lord that is the Lord of your son, is he the Lord of the skies or the Lord of the Earths?” The atheist could not answer this question. Hadrat then said, “Did you ever journey under the earth? Do you know what is beyond it?” He replied in the negative and said, “I think there is nothing beyond it.” Hadrat then said to him, “Thinking is not sufficient! However, have you ever flown into the skies and journeyed beyond the skies?” Again he replied in the negative. Hadrat said, “Did you ever travel the entire East and West and did you realise anything about the future from this?” Again he answered in the negative. Hadrat said, “I am amazed, that you are not aware of the earth and what is beneath it, and the sky and what is beyond it, and in this state of ignorance, you still have the arrogance to reject the existence of Allah. O Ignorant man! There is no argument for one who is naive about that which is a reality. The sun, the moon, the night and day, are all in a specific pattern. Verily they are within some divine control. If they were free, then they would move as they willed and would sometimes go to an appointed spot and not return. Why is it that the night does not take the place of day and the day does not take the place of night? Do you not ponder upon the reality of the skies and the earth? Why does the sky not come to the earth and why is it that the earth is not flattened by the sky? There is definitely ONE, who has all this in His Divine Control. It is He (Allah) who is All Powerful. It is He, who is our and their Lord.” When the atheist heard this, he immediately accepted Islam and had faith in the existence of Allah.

HADRAT BAYAZEED BUSTAAMI: Hadrat Ba Yazeed Bustaami Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu used to distribute water in the Darbaar of Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. Hadrat placed his saintly sight on Hadrat Bayazeed Bustaami Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu once, and he became one of the greatest mystics of his time. He then served in the Court of Hadrat Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu and became one of the greatest Awliya.

IMAM-E-AZAM ABU HANIFA: Hadrat Imam Azam Abu Hanifa Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu attained great blessings from Hadrat Imam Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. It is narrated that once he asked Imam Abu Hanifa Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu concerning who is an intelligent person. Hadrat Imam Abu Hanifa Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said, “He who can differentiate between good and evil is an intelligent man.” Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said, “Even animals have the ability to differentiate. It can differentiate between those who love them, beat them or instill fear in them?” Imam Abu Hanifa Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu then said, “O Hadrat! Would you please explain who is truly intelligent?” Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said, “An intelligent person, is one who can differentiate between two good things and two evils, so that he may choose the better of two good things and that he may be able to repel the worse of two evils.”

SHAYKH-E-TARIQAT: He was the mureed and Khalifa of Hadrat Sayyiduna Imam Baaqir Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu and attained great blessings from his beloved father.

BOOKS AND TREATIES: Hadrat has also written books on numerous topics, as mentioned by scholars like Imam Kamaaludeen etc.

KARAAMATS: Hadrat Imam Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu is an example for Muslims in every way. His greatest Karaamat was his firmness on the Shariat. His every step was in accordance with the Sunnat of the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam. A few of his Karaamats are being quoted below.

A MANSION IN JANNAH: Once, a man came to Hadrat Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu before journeying for Hajj. He gave Hadrat 10,000 dirhams, and asked him to purchase a mansion for him before he returned. Instead of purchasing a mansion, Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu distributed the entire 10,000 dirhams in the way of Allah. After the man returned from Hajj, he went to meet Hadrat Imam Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. Hadrat Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu told him that he had purchased his mansion and then handed the title deed over to him. The title deed read as follows : “One wall of the house is adjoined to the house of the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam, the other wall is adjoined to the house of Hadrat Ali Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu, the third wall is adjoined to the house of Imam Hassan Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu and the fourth wall is adjoined to the house of Imam Hussain Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu.” The man took this title deed, and asked his family members to place it in his grave when he passed away. After his demise, his family members found the title deed on the top of his grave and on the rear of the title deed the following words were written,

“Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu was honest and loyal in what he said.” [Masaalik as-Saalikeen, Vol.1, Page 220]

AMAZING INCIDENT: Once, he was on his way to Hajj, when he stopped to rest under a date tree which was completely dried out. At the time of Chasht, he asked the tree to present him with some dates. Immediately, the tree became green and lush and full of dates. Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu then ate from it. A villager was passing by and saw this. He saw this great karaamat and said that it was magic. Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said,

“This is not magic. Almighty Allah has blessed me with such a quality, that he accepts all my duas. If I make dua, even you can be transformed into a dog.” Hadrat had not yet completed what he was saying, when the villager began to resemble a dog. He quickly repented and asked Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu to forgive him. Hadrat made dua for him, and he was transformed to his normal self. [Masaalik as-Saalikeen, Vol.1, Page 223]

KHALIFA MANSOOR: Khalifa Mansoor once sent one of his ministers to summon Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu to his Court. He informed his servants that when Imam Jaafar arrived, they should wait for him (Mansoor) to remove his crown. The moment he did this, they should martyr Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. When the minister heard this, he was not pleased and thus tried to explain to Mansoor, how wrong it was to kill a pious person, who is also a Sayyid. The Khalifa did not take heed and had Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu summoned. When Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu arrived, the servants waited for their cue, so that they may martyr Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. Instead, Mansoor woke up from his throne and rushed towards the Imam. He brought him towards his throne and allowed him to sit on it with great respect, whilst he sat on the ground in front of the great Imam. The servants and ministers were surprised to see this sudden change in plan. Mansoor then asked the Imam if he had any requests. Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said,"In future you should not summon me to your court, as I wish to remain engrossed in Ibaadat."

When he heard these words, his body began to tremble and he allowed the Imam to leave with respect. When the Imam left, the minister asked about the sudden change in plan and Mansoor said, "When Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu entered my court, I saw a huge python with him. The python had its one lip over my throne and one under my throne, and it spoke to me and said that if I tried to ever harm the Imam, then he would consume me with my throne, and that is why I behaved in the manner which I did."

HIS CHILDREN: He was blessed with six sons and one daughter. Their names are :

1. Hadrat Ismaeel
2. Hadrat Muhammad
3. Hadrat Ali
4. Hadrat Abdullah
5. Hadrat Ishaaq
6. Hadrat Moosa Kaazim
7. Bibi Umm-e-Fardah (Ridwaanullahi Ta'ala Alaihim Ajma'een)

HIS KHULAFA: If one studies the books of history, then one will learn about his Khulafa, and how exalted each one of them was and how they had attained his blessings. Some of them are:

1. Hadrat Imam Moosa Kaazim  Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu
2. Hadrat Imam Azam Abu Hanifa Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu

MAZAAR SHAREEF: His Mazaar Shareef is in Jannat al-Baqi in Madinatul Munawwarah.

Al Ayyam ul Beed.. The White Days

"Beed'' is the plural of "Abyad'' which means white. Three days of 13, 14 and 15 of lunar month are called "Al-Ayyam-ul- Beed'' for the reason that their nights are bright because of the moonlight. The moon begins to diminish gradually after these days.

Abu Tharr Al-Ghefari رضي الله عنه said:
"The Messenger of Allah,  صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said
"O Abu Tharr! if you fast three days of every month, then fast the 13th, the 14th and the 15th [white days]".
[Ahmad, at-Tirmidhi;Sahih]

Abu Dharr Al-Ghifari رضي الله عنه  said:
"The Messenger of اللَّه سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى  صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said: "Whoever fasts from every month three days, it is like fasting the whole year [Ibn Majah, at-Tirmidhi]

May اللَّه سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى help us follow the footsteps of our Beloved  رسول صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.

آميــــــــــــــــــــن يَارَبَّ الْعَالَمِين

One Reason for (Provision of) Sustenance

In the blessed time of the Noble Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam), there were two brothers. Of these two brothers, one would come to the blessed court of the Holy Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) in order to seek knowledge of Islam. The other brother was labourer.

One day, the other brother who was a labourer, complained about his brother to the Beloved Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) that he has placed the entire burden of earning onto me, and he should help me in labour. The Prophet of Rahmah, the Intercessor of Ummah, the Owner of Jannah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) replied, "It might be that you are receiving sustenance by virtue of him."

Qutb al-Irshad, Siraj al-Arifeen, Sayyid Abul-Husain Ahmad-e-Noori al-Husaini al-Qadiri Barkati (Alayhir Rahmah) was born on Thursday, 19 Shawwal 1255 Hijri (26 December 1839) in Marehra Shareef, U.P., India. He was the eldest son of Hadrat Sayyid Shah Zahoor Hasan al-Husaini (Alayhir Rahmah) and grandson of Hadrat Khatim al-Akabir Sayyid Shah Ale-Rasool Ahmadi al-Husaini (Alayhir Rahmah). He is a direct descendent of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) in the 38th generation via the noble Husaini Zaidi Sa‘dat chain. His ancestors migrated from Madinah al-Munawwarah to Iraq because of political harassment. Later, they moved to the Indo-Pak sub-continent. By Divine Command, the elders of the family were ordered to settle in Marehra, a small village in U.P., India.

His mother passed away when he was at a tender age of two and a half years. He was raised under the able guardianship of his grandparents. His grandfather was the celebrated Soofi Grandmaster, Qutb al-Waqt, Khatim al-Akabir, Sayyid Sha Aal-e-Rasool Ahmadi al-Husaini (Alayhir Rahmah) (d.1262/1879). He was the Murshid of the great Mujaddid of Islam, AlaHadrat Imam Ahmad Rida al-Qadiri Barkati (Alayhir Rahmah) (1272/1856 – 1340/1921).

Under the guidance of his grandfather, Sayyid Abu al-Husain Noori (Alayhir Rahmah) entered the path of Sulook at a young age of 7 years. By the time he reached the age of 12, he developed enough spiritual knowledge to qualify as a perfect Salik [The traveller: The one who traverses the stages by his state, not by his knowledge, so that for him knowledge is experience ('Ayn).] of the Path. The Murshid (Alayhir Rahmah) carefully observed his spiritual progress, and finally, on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal Shareef 1267 Hijri [Monday, 20th January 1851], initiated him as a Mureed in the Qadiriyyah Spiritual Order. ‘Arif-e-Noori (Alayhir Rahmah) states that immediately after his initiation, his Murshid bestowed on him 13 Khilafat of various Salasil of the Noble Family. This coronation took place in a huge gathering in the Khanqah of Mareh’ra Shareef on the occasion of the Mawlood al-Nabi (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) celebrations.

‘Arif-e-Noori (Alayhir Rahmah) further states that on the same night, the Murshid ascended the official Spiritual Throne of the Masters and after offering him some coins as a gift, held his hands and granted him the Ijaza of Qur’an al-Kareem, Siha-Sitta, Musannifat Shah Waliullah, Hisna-Haseen, Dalail al-Khayrat, Asma-e-Arba‘een, Hizbul-Bahar, Hadith Musal bil Awwaliyyah, Hadith bil Izafa, Musafihat-e-Arba'‘ah, Musafiha wa Mushabika, Hirz-e-Yamani, Du‘a-e-Saifi, etc. and also the Asnad of all the ‘Uloom the Murshid received from his teachers and Masha’ikh. A detailed list of these is found in the book, “An-Noor wal-Baha”. The Murshid al-Kamil then filled his heart with Spiritual Knowledge and taught him the secrets of Fuyoode-Batini Bila Peer-o-Murshid. At that time he was only 12 years old.

‘Arif-e-Noori (Alayhir Rahmah) also studied the full ‘Aalim course under great ‘Ulama of his time. The subjects he mastered were:-

  • Hifz al-Qur’an
  • Sarf
  • Nahw
  • Fiqah
  • Usool-e-Fiqah
  • Muntiq
  • Hadith
  • Tafseer
  • Usool-e-Tafseer
  • Tasawwuf
He mastered these sciences in a short period of time. He gained most of his spiritual knowledge from within his family Masha’ikh, namely his Murshid, Khatim al-Akabir, Taj al-‘Arifeen Sayyid Sha Ghulam Muhiyyudeen Ameere-‘Alam (Alayhir Rahmah) and ‘Ilm al-Takseer from a Khalifa of the Murshid, Shaykh Sayyid Shams al-Haqq Tinka Shah. He also studied some fields of Tasawwuf from Shaykh Sayyid ‘Ayn al-Hasan Bilgrami and Shaykh Ahmad Hasan Sufi Muradabadi (Alayhim ar-Rahmah).

Arif e-Noori (Alayhir Rahmah) has also authored numerous books in the Urdu, Farsi and Arabic languages. Some of them are:

There are two very important points to note about ‘Arif-e-Noori (Alayhir Rahmah):

Firstly, he is not only the Peer-Bhai [This a common term used in the Indo-Pak sub-continent referring to Spiritual Brotherhood i.e. when two persons are the Mureeds of one Murshid al-Kamil] of the great Mujaddid Shaykh al-Islam wa al-Muslimeen AlaHadrat Imam Ahmad Rida al-Qadiri Muhaqqqiq Bareilwi (Alayhir Rahmah), but also his Ustaz in the field of ‘Ilm al-Jafr [the occult science of knowledge of the Ahle-Bay'at]. This is the most intricate of all Spiritual Sciences of Knowledge. The Mujaddid enjoyed the tutorship of Sayyiduna ‘Arif-e-Nooree (Alayhir Rahmah) in this mystical science.

Secondly, he is the Murshid of the Great Mufti and Ghawth, Taj al-Awliya Badr al-Fuqaha ‘Arife-Billah Ghawth al-Zaman Mufti al-Azam Qutb al-‘Alam Imam Mustafa Rida al-Qadiri Noori (Alayhir Rahmah) (d.1401/1981). Both these personalities are also two of his many illustrious Khulafah. If his student and Mureed are of such high calibre then I will leave it to the minds of the reader to comprehend the status and calibre of Sayyiduna ‘Arif-e-Noori (Alayhir Rahmah) himself. He is also the 38th Grandmaster of the Qadiriyyah Golden Chain of Masha’ikh.

He was the 7th consecutive Qutb of the Noble Barkati Family, which is rare and unique to find in other noble Sufi Families of the world. He had a privileged relationship with the two giants in the Spiritual World, Sultan al-Awliya Sayyiduna Shaykh ‘Abd al-Qadir Jilani (Alayhir Rahmah) and Khawaja-e-Khawajigan Hadrat Khawaja Mueen al-Deen Ghareeb Nawaz (Alayhir Rahmah).

The Sayyid (Alayhir Rahmah) possessed an impeccable personality. If he saw a poor person with torn clothes, he requested them from him saying that he liked them. The poor person would feel happy and present them to him. In turn, the Sayyid (Alayhir Rahmah) would then go into his home and return with new clothes as a gift and present these to the poor man. This was his regular practice. He always sat in the company of the poor and abstained from the wealthy. The Sayyid (Alayhir Rahmah) slept very little and spent most of his time in Spiritual Devotion (Muraqibah, etc.). It is said that the maximum time he slept was four hours a day. He never missed a single Tahajjud Salah from a tender age of 6 years. Sayyiduna ‘Arif-e-Noori (Alayhir Rahmah) was the last of the senior Masha’ikh of the noble Barkati Family that punctually engaged in the mystical devotion of Salat al-Ma‘kooz. He had a dark black ring around both his ankles due to the strain of the Salah. He was the 7th and last Qutb of this noble Husaini family.

This Shining Star on the Horizons of Perfection eventually settled and breathed his last on the 11th of Rajab 1335 (31 August 1906). He was laid to rest on the southern verandah of the Dargah Shareef of the Masters in Marehra Shareef. There, at the feet of his forefather, Sultan al-‘Ashiqeen Sahibul-Barakat Sayyid Shah Barkatullah Husaini al-Qadiri. He still beams his brilliance till this day from the Horizons of Perfection on all those who sincerely seek spiritual perfection.

..:: Golden Words of Wisdom ::..
  • Abstain from the company of misers.
  • Continuously eating meat for 40 days corrupts the heart.
  • Tariqah is not separate from the Shari'‘ah. In fact, the pinnacle of perfection of Shar'‘ah is called Tariqah.
  • Abstain from people with corrupt beliefs as their company destroys one’s Iman and causes laziness in worship.
  • Be punctual in the five daily Salah. It is the root of excellence.
  • One woman cannot be the wife of two husbands. Similarly, one Talib cannot be the Mureed of two Murshids.
  • Never regard anyone inferior to yourself.
  • Always acknowledge the favours of Allah on you.
  • Control your eyes from all unlawful things.
  • Humility generates excellence.
  • Serve and show respect to the Awliya. It is a source of Salvation.
والحمد لله رب العالمين و الصلوة و السلام على سيد الحامدين الشاكرين تاج الانبياء و امام العارفين
سيدنا و مولانا محمد و آله و اصحابه الدرالميامين و علماء الملته الراشدين المرشدين
